How you make others feel about themselves, says a lot about you.
Welcome to the 52nd episode of Giving Back Insights, my Thursday solo show where I talk about how our guests and their charities serve others, to explore actions each of can take to make a difference in people’s lives and to share. Today I’m discussing the origin and connection to the family tree. Listen to today’s episode and don’t forget to give your feedback and valuable comment. Enjoy!
Key Takeaways:
It’s so awesome to be back! Our trip to China was amazing and we all had a great time and learned so much.
We had 26 family members ages 7 to 90 spanning 3 generations. The picture on today’s cover is the arch to our family’s village. We start our trip in the southern major city of Gangzhou, 14 million people and growing on a massive scale. Highways and super fast trains connecting cities. Communities of thousands with their own schools and senior centers. Endless rows of bikes to rent — unlock one, wheel it where you need to go, put it down when you get there. All at the push of an app.
Mopeds hauling people, containers, carcasses and more. It’s kind of a wild west, there’s a lot of opportunity of one kind or another to feed the growth. It’s exciting and grimy and felt chaotic.
The family village is south of Gangzhou. What an up close and personal look at my own family’s history. On top of meeting relatives for the first time, seeing the difference in lifestyles, living standards and opportunities was an awesome reminder of how truly fortunate I am.
Hong Kong. New York City on steroids. Tiny island, Massive High rises, Lifestyle wow!
I return to you humble and rejuvenated.
Before I sign off, my deep gratitude, respect and admiration to each of our Amazing Young Leaders. Five incredible young women & men who are making a difference in their community and beyond.
